MT Saint Helens visitor Center

You are not confused, I was at the visitors center that you have in mind and my previous reply is correct.

To make the day trip can be done, but that's a lot of driving. I stayed near Silver Lake. There are interesting areas on the south side of the mountain, check out the Ape Cave area for example.
