Must See Tourist Spots

We are about to embark on our first real road trip from Ontario and around new york state. I wondered if there are any tourist spots that are must sees in the following areas: Lake Placid, Saratona Springs, Fingerling Lakes, Wakings Glen and Buffalo? Please let me have any recommendations.... thank you :)
  • Explore the gorge at Watkins Glen and take a boat tour of Senecca Lake. The Genesee River gorge is the highlight of Letchworth State Park and I suggest a camping stop there. Go to the Corning Glassworks in Corning! In Buffalo, the Albright Knox Art Gallery is a "must see" if you like art museums. I would also recommend checking out the waterfront and the Navel Park (tour the Sullivan and the submarine) and then stop at the Anchor Bar & Grill for some real chicken wings and live music if you hit the right night.
  • Summer jumping at the Olympic Ski Jump Complex (http://www.whiteface.com/facilities/lake-placid-olympic-jumping-complex) and a ride on a bobsled at the Olympic Sports Complex (http://www.whiteface.com/facilities/lake-placid-olympic-jumping-complex)- both in Lake Placid. The ride on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad (http://www.adirondackrr.com/adkrr/)and the famous "Mineral Baths" in Saratoga Springs (http://www.saratoga.com/waters-of-saratoga/baths.cfm). Take a wine tour around Keuka Lake (even if you don't drink wine....the scenery is fantastic and you just need your car and the map (http://www.keukawinetrail.com/?method=pages.showPage&PageID=29BFCC1C-9CE8-8F4A-162E-404173D7A320&originalMarketingURL=Maps). You didn't mention Lake George but we'd also suggest a dinner cruise on the Lac du Saint Sacrement (http://lakegeorgesteamboat.com/cruises/meal/dinner/).
  • It probably goes without saying, but Niagara Falls near Buffalo should be on your list to see if you have not yet been there. When I was in college (in Rochester), we'd occasionally go to get wings at Duffs, which were decent enough and plenty hot. The Anchor Head is more traditionally the home of true Buffalo wings, granted.

Ausable Chasm is worth considering, too.

x2 on Letchworth State Park and Watkins Glen State Park.
  • Finger Lakes - more wineries than you can possibly imagine. Beautiful area.

And now for something completely different - if you get that far south, between Corning & Elmira NY is Big Flats, and right off of I-86/Rt. 17 near Big Flats is Harris Hill Soaring Corporation. Sailplane & glider rides. DW & I did this for the first time two weeks ago and we had a blast! Never too early to try something different!!
  • OMG I am soooo excited!!! All your ideas sound fantastic!!! I much prefer recommendations than trawling through the internet so thank you all SO MUCH! I will update on my return, hopefully with some pics - :)
