We have made that trip often. Like so many, it is definitely best to avoid Interstate 95 as much as you can. We take Rt 31 to Hwy 9 towards Tabor City. We pick up Rt 701 around Loris and then take Rt 410 towards Chadburn, which is a left hand turn shortly after you pass Jellystone CG in Tabor City NC. From 410 we get onto 74 West towards Lumberton, where we pick up I 95 North. AT the top of North Carolina, believe it is exit 171 (first one for Roanoke Rapids) there is a great overnight stop called RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads. Pull thrus in the front, special for simply an overnight spot. That's less than 5 hours into the trip. We then take I95 North until getting onto I295 AROUND Petersburg and Richmond. DEFINITELY do this in an RV - much less traffic, far fewer large vehicles. We reenter I95 north of Richmond and leave it at
Exit 104 - Rt 207 to Rt 301. US 301 will take you right to where it blends with US 50 and then right to Annapolis. HOnestly think this is your best route. Going this way you miss all the congestion of I 95 in Petersburg, Richmond, and the Washington, DC area. It isn't always faster but it's ALWAYS a more comfortable drive according to DH. Have a safe trip.
