Natchez trace

We are over the 55 foot limit (43 foot plus car at 14 foot) and would like to travel on Natchez trace - would this be a problem?

I just completed the Natchez Trace. Felt like I was the only rig on the road....go soon as the crowds and bicyclists will really slow you down. Your rig length won't be a problem...except at some of the pull offs. Stay overnight in Tupelo...interesting town with a few places to visit. Elvis's home and the original Tupelo Hardware are worth a stop. A good RV park in Tupelo.....but make a reservation.

At the south end in Natchez MS, go over the Mississippi River Bridge west to Vidalia Louisiana. Riverview RV Park on the MS River. Nice paved walking trail along the river. Visit the cemetery in Natchez.

There's a couple free RV parks on the Trace as you move south of Tupelo.

Just saw that you're in Florida.....reverse my suggestions.
  • At least from Tupelo north, it shouldn't be a problem, except - as noted - in some of the pullout areas. The most northerly 15-20 miles (or so) are more winding with tighter turns, so you'll need to slow down & be careful. We towed a 34'TT with a pickup truck on this part of the route and had no problems.
  • The only place you might have a problem is on some of the scenic or historical turnouts. Some of them are marked that RV's should not use them, but even those signs are somewhat small and hard to see. Still lots that took our 70'+ without a problem. One other issue you might watch for is that some sections have tree branches that impinge on the roadway, but there were not enough overhangers to cause us a major problem, just something to watch for. It's a great ride.
  • I would look at it closely on Google Maps but I motorcycled the road in 2011 and it was straight and boring. Can't remember if we did the entire road.
