NE Ohio (dover) to Panama City beach

If you go thru Nashville I have found an easy way to avoid the downtown mess of roads, bridges and interchanges.

If headed north on I-24 take exit 54, Briley Parkway, highway 155 and go east past the airport, You hit two or three traffic lights and then it becomes limited access. Several lanes each way it loops around the east side of Nashville, and then you can get off on I-65 or I-24 north when you get to the north side of town. It adds three or four miles to the trip but I have never encountered any traffic on it to speak of.

My County health department inspector told me this spring that he had just started RV'ing with a travel trailer and had been to Presnell's Bayside Marina & RV Resort on 30A south of the town of Port St. Joe and was pleased with his stay. Google reviews are all pretty good too. Be sure and visit the lighthouse.

The State Park is rather popular and mostly full other than an odd day or two here or there. If you need to boondock, drive to Apalachicola and as you approach the US98 bridge over the bay, take the last right before going up the ramp to the bridge (Columbus St) then a quick left on 4th st/High st/Market st/Water st, same street, four names, this takes you to the boat ramp and a large grass field commonly used for boondocking, Battery Park.

If you need a campground continue on across the bay bridge and continue East on 98 thru Eastpoint and about a mile out of town on the left is Coastline RV Campground and just a few hundred feet further down is Coastline RV Resort (much nicer) both same owners, have been spending lots of money on improvements.

Same web site for both of them. This is on the bay, so no beach, but a short drive out to the island.

El Jalisco Eastpoint Mexican Restaurant does a very good breakfast, along with the Mexican lunch and dinner. Nice folks.

Drive out to St George Island, don't forget to check out the Lighthouse, day trip at the state park. Just before you head out to the island on the left is Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve Nature Center, which has some real neat displays. If you have kids with you, don't miss it.

Use US-231 from Montgomery Al. to Panama City. It may be a few miles longer, but it's better road than US-331.

Just drove this route 2 weeks ago to Port ST Joe Fl and back. I would take I265 around Louisvile instead of I264. It is about 4 miles further than going into Louisville, but the traffic flows better unless it is rush hour. There is some construction between Elizabethtown and Upton KY on I 65, which is the last part of I65 to be 3 laned thru KY. We breezed thru that with no problems. The only traffic we had was on I65 south ofBirmingham and US 231 between Montgomeryand Dothan coming north. It was heavy traffic from the weekend before the Fourth. Have a safe trip.

I kinda agree with your route as far as bypassing Cincy. BUT having traveled this route 2 times since last October I would rather get stuck in Ohio traffic than ATLANTA GA traffic. Sorry if I make some toes hurt but those people are the rudest I have ever experienced. So I would route myself 77S from Dover to Cambridge, 70W to Cbus, 71S to 275 around Cincy, (or skip CBus and Cincy by using 77S to Chaleston WV then 64W) 75/40/75 to Chattanooga, US 27S to Columbus GA, US 431/231 to PCB.

correct to use 275 around Cin. Then I-71 to I-65 south to US331 south. There is a Cracker Barrel and Walmart off I-65 in Athens, plus a Pilot Truck Stop and Loves in Falkville. Northgate RV Travel Park is a no frills cash or check only park right off I-65, good for overnight if you need AC (which I think you might).

thanks. I've never used waze. I downloaded and now have to figure out. planning on 70, 71, 275, 75, 71, 65 and then 331. It seems theres a few ways after that.
