Neb. hwy 34

Anybody know how hwy 6 an hwy 34 is in Nebraska? Thinking of taking them an staying off interstate
  • Traveling from Omaha through Lincoln, you might want to consider using the interstate as either of those will run you right through downtown area of those cities. West of Lincoln, depending on where your ultimate destination, you probably would want to stay on Hwy 6 (south of I-80) until it joins with Hwy 34 in Hastings. For the most part, pretty decent roads. Haven't driven them too much lately, but grew up in that area and drove them frequently.
  • If you go that way, don't miss Pioneer Village in Minden. It's worth a full day excursion in our opinion!

We lived in Nebraska near 6/34 at Cambridge. The highway is good, with light traffic usually, and you get to see all the small towns along the way... Many have interesting museums! Most of the small towns have a free/donation city park for RV camping, and watch out for farm equipment that frequently is seen on the highway.

Here is a link about the Cambridge RV Campground... Cambridge City RV Park Information
  • US 34 is in decent shape. Of course you don't make nearly as good of time, simply because one must slow for every town along the way.

x2 on Pioneer Village in Minden. There is a CG there also, but we've never stayed there.
  • As stated 6 or 34 are a good, more slower pace routes, thru southern Nebraska. The campground at Pioneer Village is nothing special but if you're visiting the Village, it's very convenient. There's campgrounds at Enders on 6 at Enders Res. Rec Area and also some on 34 around Trenton at Swanson Lake. Both were good for a overnight or two.
  • Thanks everyone, planning on staying at pioneer village 1 day an an staying at campground then head on west to moab for 10 days to 2 weeks. Going to take 4 days to get there so not in a big hurry.
