With children those ages, a couple of places come to mind. As mentioned before the SeaLife Center in Seward is WONDERFUL. Walk there from the city CG on the waterfront. Near Girdwood is the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center - another kid-friendly place to see moose, bear, etc. - a worthwhile stop. Also right there is a really nice easy hike to Byron Glacier. You may not actually make it to the official glacier, but there is a large snowfield to play on down low. No crowds, kid-safe (no crevasses) - sledding in July! In Anchorage is the Alaska Native Cultural Center - also kid-friendly. If you do get to Denali, Riley Creek CG in the park is good to stay - close to "front-country' activities - visitor center, sled dog kennels, bus tours, a few short, safe hikes. Would likely NEED reservations there. Hiking in AK is definitely different than other places - you (and the little ones...) are NOT "top of the food chain" - keep that in mind. Talkeetna - "a quaint little drinking town with a climbing problem" - not a lot to offer as far as family activities - save it for the next trip. ST
