We carry a copy of "Next Exit." It's a book with all Interstate highways, all exits (all services at each exit is listed), and rest areas. Pretty handy.
Also, Google Earth is a great way to help plan a trip. You can search towns or areas, it shows elevations, and also has street views. For example; if one has an address of a place one needs to stop at--one can actually look at this place from the same view one will have when arriving.
My "favorites" menu is full of web sites to check out. Also, go to You Tube and search just about anyplace.
