Nogales Border crossing (truck)

Knowing how things change, does anyone have an update on the ease of a 40 plus foot mh and toad going through the pearly gates? Is there a special lane to avoid or stay in? Thanks in advance. Tom
  • Tom: I just reread your post. The whole port is new. That building is gone and the new entry has about 8 or more lanes. It is not in the exact same spot. You will be impressed !

  • When you go through the gates you will be in the USA. The road is narrow but then it widens as the vehicles from downtown merge . At this point the road is very wide but you want to be in the bus lane so will have to cross 2 lanes of traffic to get to the right hand side. Depending on the traffic that can be no big deal.

  • thank you very much, the "bus lane" it is.So when coming down the hill , merge over to the right where the trucks used to go but not quite that far over as that is the extreme right or at least used to be. I remember going around the building and thru the x-ray!
  • By taking the bus lane you do not have to turn left after your inspection. There is another road straight ahead of the bus lane that can handle long rigs with ease. Although the widths of the lanes near the booths are all the same I am always worried that a car will take the curves too wide and hit the toad or worse yet the MH.!! Ron has the good fortune to have a Tundra with a 5th wheel. He can easily maneuver any border crossing.Lately if they are doing a bus inspection and an RV approaches they ask the bus to move.

  • We usually just do the "shortest line" thing, which isn't always as it looks. Otherwise, we don't try to get in next to the bus lane and just take whatever is available. We usually have to pull through and park to talk to another agent. The last few times, they have been very friendly and accommodating. RYV
  • Tom: Came through Nogales in my truck on Sunday. Same way it has been most of the last 4 months. RV lane on the left is closed . Use the right hand lane marked BUS. A little hard to move over to the right across the Mexican traffic. But the best way is to get your wife to stop the traffic while you move over. A little hairy but not bad. I don't like playing chicken with Mexicans. Lots of room for your rig.
