We do 395 from So. Cal to Reno a dozen times a year mostly with a 36'DP pulling a Nissan XTerra toad. Your best route will be 395 to Bishop then US 6 to NV state 360 to 95 into I-80 into Reno, Smaller grades very good roads little traffic. You will avoid the climb out of Bishop at 5,000' over Conway pass at 8100'. That is a very long, hot climb from Bishop to and over Conway Pass.
