Northbound I-5 to Oregon Coast

Going to Waldport this summer. I've already driven on 42, 138/38, and 20. Just to see a different road, I'm thinking of taking 126 this time. Seems like it's RV friendly from comments in other threads. But one person wrote that it's really twisty. Is it any worse than 101 around Garberville, CA with several miles of "S" curves? And is it narrow like some sections of 20 and 42S?

  • Thank you for all that info. I was wondering what would be the best way to get onto 126 from I-5. So even coming from the south, it's worth it to drive all the way up and around the Beltline Hwy?

I probably won't be concerned about time. Depends where I end up spending the night before. If possible, I like to travel on different roads from previous years.

On another note, how do you like your motorhome? I've looked online at floorplans from recent years of Winnebago/Itasca and Tiffin. The 34TGA is the only one I really like! I love my 32V but W/I stopped making that layout.
  • Oregon 126 between Eugene and Florence on the coast is an excellent road. No concern for RVs. Thousands of them make the trek back and forth between I-5 and Highway 101 every year. I do recommend you take the Randy Pape Beltline highway (MP 195) off Interstate 5 at the north end of Eugene to get over to Highway 126 as it bypasses all of downtown Eugene. Highway 126 is a beautiful drive to Florence, on the coast. I must point out, though, that the Highway 138/38 route taking you from I-5 to Reedsport on the coast will save you about 45 minutes of drive time, if you are coming from the south, and if time is of concern to you.
