The First Step: putting the insulation under the trailer:
Yesterday I cut and fitted the insulation panels to the underside of my trailer. This morning I hurt all over. My initial thought was that I wanted to avoid gluing them on (this wouldn't work alone anyway) but I also didnt want to use fasteners. So I devised a spring like bridge made of thin wood. this would have worked brilliantly if i could have cut the panels to fit tightly.
Well there are just too many cutouts and flanges and odd approaches needed to be taken to get the panels in place to be able to cut them for a very tight fit.
So I had to fall back to installing them with screws and fender washers to the underside of the wood floor beams that run longitudinally the length of the trailer.
Here are some pics:

this is the cutout around my Pigtail electrical connection box and fuse which will need to remain accessible. This was one of my many previous projects.

Now I don't think for a minute that this underbody insulation will be any kind of silver bullet to keep me warm...but it will help and mostly it will help keep my heating ducts and pipes warmer. that alone will make the furnace more efficent. The ductwork for the heating system is laid in between the stringers suspended just above the plastic outer liner that covers the underside of the trailer. So this has to help that.
More to come.
I really like the idea of a dash cam one poster suggested. mmm.
