I admire your courage! I wish you well. Many of us will be following your progress, and (judging by this thread) almost all of us are rooting for you. ;)
Yes, it is true that few people have done what you are going to do -- but several have, and for each of them, there had to be a first time!
How did you get the screws through the foam and into the frame -- did you drill pilot holes? I would think that those would be hard to align, without first gluing the panel to the underside of the frame (which I understand you did not do).
I have only driven on thick glare ice a few times with my trailer. It can be done, with great care. One tip -- many highway curves are slightly banked, in anticipation of traffic flowing at normal speeds. If you take a banked turn at very low speed on thick ice, the trailer can slide down the bank, forcing you to steer up the bank a little, in order to go straight! Don't ask how I learned this trick.
