I-81 runs just West of the Skyline Drive with major routes access to the Parkway.
Our camp ground of choice is LOFT MTN with no hookups along with Sherando Lakes Camp Ground with hookups just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at the south end of the Shenandoah Natl Park
Some items to watch on the Skyline Drive is one or two Tunnels, lots of Motorcycle and even bicycle traffic and of course scenic pull outs at many areas. In the early evenings the deer and wildlife start coming out crossing the parkway... The Big Meadows Area is the place to be in the early evening for watching the deer wildlife.
We have also done the 450Mile long Blue Ridge Parkway a couple of times over the years. You certainly cannot be in any hurry doing this...
