On the Road with "Roll Call Alaska 2013"......

Left Missoula going north on 93 to Radium Hot Springs, then 93 thru Kootnay NP to Banff & Lake Louise, west on Hwy 1, N on 93 over the Icefields Parkway to Jasper, East on 16 to Hinton. Two day drive, 750 miles. All roads open and bare. Roadside pullouts all snow free and open. SPECTACULAR winter snowy scenery in the mountains and lots of waterfalls.. Temps in the 70's, dropping to the 50's in Banff and 40's over the Icefields, back to 70 in Jasper.

Doing this in a 40' 5th and dually.

Left Alabama on April 17th headed to Michigan and on to South Dakota to visit family. Now we are in Island Park, ID for a few days. Checking out Yellowstone and the rest of the area. Will be crossing the border the end of next week.

We will be leaving Grants Pass, Or on Wednesday. Probably hitting the Osoyoos Crossing on Friday the 17th. There is a big Holiday for Canadians that week end so there maybe a little more traffic than usual. Anyone familiar with Victoria Day in Canada?
If it is to bad we will stop somewhere and wait it out. We are in no hurry. The whole trip is like that. Can't say where we will be or when. We are going up the Trans Canada Hiway to Banff then up to Grande Prairie to Dawson Creek, maybe. If something comes up we will change.

If you are still in Port Orford make sure you try the Crazy Norwegian. Slow to get meal but worth the wait. Great tasting.

The border traffic will be opposite your direction.. After that...you into the fist good-weather long weekend in BC. Most (all) of the BC Provincial CG's open, and so..it's busy.

We will be leaving Flagstaff, Az on June 12 and picking up some hitchhikers in Bend, OR on the 18th and Gig Harbor, WA on the 20th. Hope to enter Canada on or about the 22nd. Then it's creep our way to Alaska no itenerary just enjoy the adventure. Subscribed to the post so will be up to date with all the fun and helpful onfo.

The road over Steamboat Mtn and Stone Mtn is fine, temp around 55+. Only one SLOW for broken road near Pink Mountain. Fuel in Ft St John is $1.16/ltr, $1.69/ltr at Toad River.

Ouch, $1.69 is about $6.50/US gal, almost double AZ prices. :(

Fuel went from 131.9 to 136.9 in the North as of today. That's a liter and regular.
