Never heard of that one before.
On the flip side it sounds like there is higher tax at the truck islands. Might be a good reason to avoid them. Sometimes I look for regular nozzles at the truck/RV islands when I am towing. Any idea if the requirement is combined weight or tow vehicle capacity? Although my combined ratings are below 26k.
Diesel fuel has a 2 tier tax rate in AZ
The $0.26/gallon applies to vehicles having a declared gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds or having more than two axles.
The $0.18/gallon applies to light class motor vehicle (such as a pickup truck) or an exempt vehicle (certain school buses, government and non-profit vehicles.
Fuel Tax Info
If your vehicle GVWR is 26,000# (or more) or you have more than 2 axles, you can be fined if you fuel up with diesel at a 'regular service station' pump where tax rate is only $.018/gallon.
BUT if your GVWR is under 26,000# and you fuel up with diesel at a truckers station pump that has the higher rate applied at $0.26/gallon you can get a refund of $.08 X gallons purchased.
Will need to fill out form with stations cashier for the refund.
