I don't know if I can add anything or clarify what has already been said. When you see the big price sign at truck stops going down the road in AZ you are seeing the price trucks must pay for fuel. In AZ they tax heavier vehicles 8 cents a gallon more than smaller vehicles - this is only on diesel. If you only have a single axle in the rear and you weigh under 26,000 lbs (registered weight of motorhome alone) you do not have to pay the 8 cents extra. Why they do this I do not know. If you fuel at the RV pumps they may not have the 8 cents added to the price. We search gocomchek.com and msn gas prices and gas buddy to find who is charging what anywhere we go. In AZ we know the truckstops will show 8 cents more because it is the truck price. We fuel at the small vehicle pumps because we like saving money. I have never heard of them patrolling or fining people for fueling at the low price pumps. But I guess it can happen. Going to non-truck stop stations can save money in AZ because they will not have the 8 cent tax.
There is something of a similar problem in IN and OR as truckers pay their tax by permit so the price you see up outside truckstops is the price without the tax. Technically RVs are not supposed to fuel at truck pumps in these states. You may find that you have to pay quite a bit more for fuel in these states than the sign says because they add the state tax to the price. This can all get confusing. Just more of the stuff we need to be aware of.
