Ontario License Plate - Still hard to get!!!!

A while back this CVOR problem came up on this forum, I think. I had to go to the Service Ontario office for another thing and asked them about the CVOR exemption. They didn't have a clue. I then called the MOT and they gave me the info needed. MOT asked where this Service Ontario office was and that they were going to get the dickens. Go to Service Ontario and ask for the Vehicle Registration form. The section on CVOR is on the back of the form, 3rd down. Fill it out with the GVWR of the truck. If you're under 6000 kilos you're exempt. I just make it at 5897 kilos. As for weight registration, I change mine twice a year. I get it raised to 11000 kilos, the legal limit before having to get an AR license. The covers the weight of the truck and trailer on the ground. I change it in May and get it changed back in October. I'll have to ask about the quarterly thing. I had to get the AR ticket when the gov't in all their wisdom changed the rules for us RVers a few years back. I was 3 days away from having to do my drivers' test for the 2nd year when they changed it to 11000 kilos/24600 lbs. I had written directly to the Minister of Transport at the time and eventually got an answer back from her. I think I was one of many who had complained along with the RV dealers, I was lead to believe. So maybe complaints from us RVers again might do something positive. Oh and while I'm thinking about it, if you travel the 407 around Toronto, you will be charged on your weight registration. I did when I was at 11000 kilos and got a very big surprise when I was billed. I traveled from the 401 west of Toronto onto the 407, got off at the 400 and then came back the same way. They billed me for over $300.00. I called and told them I was in my personal PU and not towing anything . They then explained how they charge but I was moved to another person who after I explained about my truck, dropped the charge down considerably. Needless to say I will not drive the 407 ever again.
