We are contemplating the very same issue while planning a future trip up through BC, Yukon, and into Alaska. However, the current idea for us is NO tow car. Our RV is a Winnebago Fuse at 24 feet long....easily maneuverable in city streets and easy to park. In your case, at 39 feet I would absolutely take a tow car. Too many places you would want to see that would be difficult to access with a 39 foot motor home.
