6 is fine. But to avoid Portland traffic you might consider heading north to Astoria and take 30 east to Longview, cross the bridge and picj up I5/I205 south to I84 east. A lot less traffic. Coming in on hwy6/26 puts you into the middle of down town Portland and unless you hit it right traffic is terrible.
