- old_guyExplorerslow. not 4 lanes. good pavement though.
- amandasgrammaExplorer97 does not go directly into Portland. Either go up 97 to 84, then over, or go up 97 to 26 and over. We've done both with 36 ft DP......and anything else we drive and pull. Not bad at all. They're both main highways and are trucking routes.
- donn0128Explorer II97 to Madras 26 over Mt Hood to Portland. Easy4 hour drive. That used to be my main route home when we lived inPortland area. There is about 40 miles through the mountains that is 50ish and one 6% down hill from Government Camp take it slow and easy if your not used to mountain driving. Heck, if thepioneers could do it in their covered wagons and mules you certainally can make it
- minzExplorerwatch the wind just before you start to climb the mountain on the 26. Just did it a couple of days ago and it just about put my 25' in the ditch.
- john_betExplorer IILeaving Portland Monday headed to Bend in our rig and am not worried about it one bit. Had a head wind Thur. from the Tri-cities area of WA. to Portland and the only effect I had was lower fuel eco.
