Have to admit that surprised us also. In this case the old Canadian Tire Lot worked out better cause it was for 2 nights. But definitely was surprised.

Not sure if that was just an employee or there is a change in policy coming.

Just a quick update, when we got to the Superstore and asked for permissin to spend the night, they told us they we're trying to discourage it, but did not say no.

We ended up staying 2 nights in old and empty Canadian Tire lot, cause of some weather moving in the next day. We would have stayed at the Superstore lot if it would have been for 1 night.

The Moyie Lake Provincial Park has several accessible sites located along the access road to the boat launch. The road is not gated so is accessible until snow closes it. Pit toilets are available. Check the B. C. parks website for info. The park is about ten KM west of Cranbrook.

There's a decent small campground on the outskirts of town called Jim Smith. There was hardly anyone there when we were there.

edit: just read the date and realized this one will probably be closed too.

I have a brother who has lived in Cranbrook for years.
I could always text him and ask his input if you don't come up with anything

I was in Cranbook a few weeks ago. You can overnight at the Superstore but not at the Walmart. I made a point of shopping at the Superstore and not at Walmart because of that.
