I would not expose my children or wife to any of that. Unfortunately, you will most likely find some undesirables at a truck stop. You will definitely annoy the truckers when you take a sleeping spot away from them, since they cannot go anywhere else like you. Spend $30 and rent a campground for the night. It will much quieter, safer, and you can let the kids run and explore things you would rather they see and learn about.
