Overnight Flying J

Heading to Disney in May. Was looking to do a quick overnight at a Flying J in Ruther Glen, VA. Has anyone done an overnight there or at any of the Flying J's? I will be towing a 33' 5th wheel and I will have my children with me. Plan on pulling in late and leaving early. I would also like any suggestions on overnights like this. Looking to stay just north of the Richmond, VA area. Thanks

  • I have stayed at a few Flying J's. Some had RV areas and some didn't. At one we stopped a bit early and the lot was almost empty, I'm talking a lot big enough for 150 trucks. I managed to swing wide and park fairly straight with the toad attached. We walked to the Dennys attached, ate and went back and went to bed. The next morning at about 7 am I looked outside and trucks solid in the lot. It was crazy full. I did not hear a thing.....but my hearing is quite bad......
  • I have spent the night at Flying J's across the US. They are noisy. Lots of traffic. I have only stayed in the RV parking area, so make sure your Flying J has RV parking, otherwise you will have to park with the big rigs.
  • I and many on here will tell you it's not likely to be a pleasant experience. Noisy with trucks, crowded, and, truckers really don't like you taking their sleeping places. Someone's likely to pull in next to you with a refrigerator unit, or idle all night.

With a bit of google maps research you should be able to find a nice small town with RV space, like a city park or large empty lot. I find that much more pleasant.
