Some RV parks in Alaska tend to attract locals who can't afford to rent or buy stick accommodation.
At the one we had to overnight in (due to a flat tire that needed fixing) near Wasilla it was scary. Drug deals in the open, tenants rallying against their rent increase, and it was dirty and not well-maintained. But we didn't have much choice as it was late. Hardly slept, kept fondling the axe under my pillow, and we left at 6 a.m. before anyone was awake.
I'd choose a parking lot over an RV park...
