It is fast so long as you are not on a weekday when there are commuters and school buses to contend with on your travel. Worst case you should be able to average 35 MPH going down Hwy 1. Leave time to stop and take in the views as this is some of the most beautiful coastline in the world. Davenport is a good place to stop and eat and take a break and there are the elephant seals to see at Ano Nuevo.
