Our second trip to Mexico, 2004, had us return to the RV park in town, but when we pulled in and we were aghast at nearly a foot of water everywhere in the park. Some RV's there, probably left while owners rode the train, likely took on some water. We drove slowly and managed to turn around and continued on. A year or two later we heard about La Pilarica, and made it a stopping place. During this time there was no secured gate. One year returning north we stopped, were prodded into paying a security man on a bicycle a tip by our traveling partner at the time. The park filled up fast later in the afternoon. He left his key outside in the door of his 5er, no problem. One of my bicycles was stolen from the back of our motorhome, it was locked but enough space inadvertently left meant the lock was useless, but the thief only took one of the two bikes there. In 2009 going south alone, we stopped there, and no other RV'ers arrived. With lots of trucks in the paddock, and a party going on in a sleeper truck right next to us, we didn't feel safe, never visited the café as we usually did, and as things seemed to get worse, we drove off into the night (a first, and the only time) and we drove down the road a few miles to the next Pemex, to spend an uneventful night. Never been back there, and that was our final trip that far south.
