We crossed the border last evening at Sweet Grass. I'm carrying two guns which I had already made out the proper forms for presentation at the border. We had heard about a concern for raw chicken a couple of days before, so my wife cooked all of it the night before we crossed and put in the freezer. I did an inventory of our booze and found that we were 11 beers and three wine coolers over our limit and I almost threw all of it away before crossing, but decided just to pay duty on it.
Easiest crossing we have ever made. I declared the excess alcohol, told the agent I had two guns with paper work to pay the $25, and answered all of her questions without hesitation. She wrote eveything down and handed me her notes and told me to park and go inside to the counter. She didn't asked about any type of food we may have had. I've had my motorhomes completely searched three times on previous crossings.
It took a total of 15 minutes to take care of everything and we were on our way. The agent inside didn't say anything about the excess alcohol, he recorded my gun information, took my money, and we were on our way!
