Pharr to Lake Chapala
We crossed into Mexico at the Pharr crossing on Sunday Nov.5/16 at 10:45 AM. The border guard did a quick look in the car and the coach which took about 3 min. and we were on our way. Went straight ahead and bypassed Reynosa to hwy 97 & 101 to Cd. Victoria. There were a few police patrolling the hwy. The road is good a few rough places and a Mexican 3 lane hwy. Then took the east bypass heading to San Louis Potosi on hwy 101, stopped for the night at a Pemex at Tula large parking lot lots of trucks, we have stayed here before on our trips back and forth. The next day it was hwy 101 to hwy 57 which has not changed it is still rough and the bypass around San Louis Potosi then passed the turn of for the 80D to Guadalajara. Went a few miles further to take hwy 37 to Leon. The last 20klms to Silao under construction as well as the road into the city to get to hwy 45d going to Irapuato and the bypass around it to take hwy 90 to La Piedad De Cabadas and the bypass around it to take you to Mex 15D. It was late when we got to Mex 15D we then stopped at a Pemex with a large parking area and stayed for the night. The next morning it was back on Mex 15D to the Ocotlan exit and then onto hwy.36 to Guadalajara and the Chapala hwy, we arrived at our place in San Antonio at noon.
It was a good trip no police or military stops, roads were good some rough places. This route saves a lot of toll money especially with a large coach and pulling a car behind. There are a few toll places on this route but not many it is an easy route but slower then the toll roads but then we are not in a hurry.
