If you knew how often this happens in the US and if you were familiar with US Dept of Justice and FBI stats you would head for Mexico immediately if not sooner as many of us on this forum already have. 38,000 carjackings in the US on average each year - that does not include auto theft or truck hijacking which have their own stats.
LMFAO!!!! Give me ONE, ONE, instance of such an event happening in the US, Canada or anywhere other than a third world country. I've never heard of an instance of someone holding up an RVer at gunpoint to steal their toad, here or in Canada. This wasn't some quick carjacking. This was a very violent event for the OP. He did the right thing in that situation. Calling this a carjacking does a disservice to the OP. This was a robbery, pure and simple. In a carjacking, the victim is usually pulled from their vehicle and the perp drives off. Victim is accosted by the perp for less than 60 seconds. In this instance, the OP encountered at least two armed individuals for what must have seemed like a lifetime to him and his wife. Any misstep on his or her part could have resulted in a kidnapping and/or death to both. IMHO, the OP and his wife were lucky, this time. These were small time criminals, wusses as called out above. They could just as well have killed both the OP and his wife, unhooked their Jeep and driven off. Again, this was not some random carjacking....Dennis
