It is appearing that there may have been a rule change. It looks like no truck with a GVWR of over 7700 lbs may be able to get a permit anymore. An email direct fromm Banjercito headquarters is stating that the rule applies to GVW, not the weight of the truck itself. Someone I know sent an email to Banjercito over this.

Please define Capacidad de Carga as it pertains to 3.5 metric tonnes. Is it the total capacity of the vehicle including the vehicle itself and passengers and load (GVWR) or is it only the cargo capacity (payload) that the vehicle can carry?
Answer: THE LAW RELATES TO THE GVWR.
So it looks like we have to go through legal channels to get this cleared up between departments, IE between SAT & Banjercito.
If it stands, the RV induistry in Mexico is finished. RV parks right now have issues, with 50% of the business gone, they won't survive.
That is worst case scenario.
