Hi Chris,
The more I ask the more confused I get and the more stonewallng I get.
I think the law is in a manual I posted about temporary importing vehicles - the one that talks about the wording on page 22 which I did a Copy & Paste at least a few times. That law is from 2014 as near as I can tell. As far as I know it has not been repealed or changed.
New laws come out all the time. Some of the new laws were in Jan and Feb of 2017 - and may or may not apply.
So the border guys have all these laws. Some have different wording. Some say "capacida de carga" and some just say "capacidad". I think they are not sure what the wording is supposed to mean.
But how do they know what the capacity is? They seem to be assuming it is supposed to be on the tag on the door frame along with VIN and GVWR - which apparently it is not. So they look for that and do not find what they are looking for - end of story.
Seems at some crossings they get it and at others they do not.
I keep asking. I can't get answers. They sent me the wording of the laws along with their English translation and told me that should answer all my questions. They actually answered none of my questions. They just quoted laws.
I have told them I do not understand the laws and why there are different laws and I also told them about people who have been denied.
I sent copies to them from last years posts about this as well as this years posts where people have been denied. I have sent everything that has come up and asked many questions. I am probably not getting to the correct people but I do not know who else to ask.
