There are efforts being made within government channels Brian. I dont want to say much, toe stepping could be an issue. I have been asked to ask you to cease bugging them at this point, so they don't dig in their heels. It is being worked on internally, but things happen slowly. You could trigger a change in the rules in the wrong direction
At this point in time there are people making their winter plans. This pickup thing is so confusing I would guess a lot of people are making plans not to bother driving all the way to Mexico to be told to turn around.
This is not about us! If enough people stop going to Mexico a lot of businesses could fail. Small Mom & Pop RV parks and related little businesses who depend on the few dollars the RV community might spend. That is who is being hurt by this nonsense.
How much time is left before the leaders of the agencies doing this in Mexico get around to fixing it - or even explaining it? If they don't fix it soon and show the laws that must be followed those planning their winter trips will be looking elsewhere. One of the emails I received said SAT headquarters would be sending people to the border crossings between Nov and Jan to explain the rules. I wrote back that that would be too late as people are not going to be driving thousands of miles to the border to find out whether they are going to be let in or not. They need to know now.
It does appear the laws have already been changed in the wrong direction. The changed the wording in some laws to indicate the weight allowed in total (GVWR) is 3.5 - they changed that from where the law clearly said the cargo capacity allowed is 3.5 tons. There is a huge difference in the meaning of that and the questions have to do with which is the correct wording and what was the intent. Or did someone misunderstand and write it up using the wrong wording?
I have asked them which law is being used and/or supposed to be used and also why their is such a difference in the wording of the various laws. A simple question which they will not or cannot answer.

This needs to be answered now or quite a few RV parks in Mexico could be vacant and out of business this winter. This is not about what we want but what they want.
