Pittsburgh, Pa to Santa Cruz, CA
Need opinions on what the best route would be for traveling mid October to mid November.

I just checked Google maps for the shortest route and taking I-80 is 2630 miles and going South and taking I-40 is 2690 miles. Only 60 miles further. But even that route still takes you through some high country in New Mexico and Arizona.
