How are you with mosquitos as big as sparrows and grizzlys bear as big as grizzly bears?
Did this trip in 2005. Don't believe this take. Best trip of my life. The only bugs we experienced was sitting around the fire at Tangle Lakes near Paxton and head nets took care of that. Not mosquitoes btw.
I know things have probably changed since then but I would love to do it again.
Mosquitoes aren't necessarily an issue - every year is different. Our last full summer trip we rarely were bothered unless we were hiking in a deep forest.
I think you should do the Alaska trip. There's a separate post on this forum of those going in 2017. Tack on to see what they have to say. It's a very easy trip. It's just a long one. Don't think of it from start to finish. Think of it as many short trips together. Just take chunks at a time. A full summer of reservations isn't necessary. There are gorgeous boondocking spots and if you pull into a RV park early afternoon you'll get a site.
Purchase the Milepost for excellent history and maps; Mike & Terri Church's book 'Alaskan Camping' which includes Canada and the Yukon; and the TourSaver 2/1 coupon book. One glacier cruise will pay for the trip and you'll want to do at least one.
Hope you do Alaska. It's definitely a bucket list trip!
