The travel writers at Lonely Planet think Mexico is safer than the US.
Yes I agree with this article, as it says stay in the high tourist areas where the only danger is kids and people bugging the hell out of you to buy somthing. Also most of the states in the south are safe and the ones in the north are dangerous. That's fine, but if you're in an RV you got to drive thru the states that are on the danger list. Just remember, to get to the pretty areas of Mexico you will have a target on the side of your RV for anybody up to and including the so called police/army. That's another thing, police and EMS in the northern states is uhhhh, shall we say few and far between. Something to consider when traveling with kids, I want to be able to dial 911. And no, I would not drive downtown LA either lol lol.....
Have you ever taken your RV to Mexico? Are you aware of any RVer who has been murdered down there? I am aware of a few in my my own Province.
I don't know what your answers are to those questions, but I have spent 6 winters RV'ing in Mexico & 1000's of miles. The number of incidents I have seen or been involved in are nil, zero, nada. Same thing for the 100's of other RVers i have encountered there.
