We pretty much took that route last June (although CA 39 & 6 rather than 35 to Regina). Good 2 lane roads for the most part, with the usual caveats on watching for the warning flags indicating frost heaves as you get further north. Towing an Escape 17B & a Scamp 16, we were far from a "big rig", but I didn't see any problems for them & saw many along the way.
