I second the recommendation for the Milepost, Mike and Terri Church's Book "Alaska Camping" and the toursaver book. We purchased the toursaver at Fred Meyer's, I believe.
I started reading about 2 years prior to our trip. I read the entire Church book, bought little page tabs and marked pages I knew I would want to get back to. I also highlighted stuff. It would have been nice to do that with the Milepost as well, but that is like reading an encyclopedia! That book has so much info, it's like a history book. Often one of us would be reading about the mileposts we passed as the other was driving. I kept it because it was so very interesting.
Be sure to take time to see/do everything you want. True, you can always go back, but not everyone has an opportunity to do that.
Wonderful trip.
