Planning a trip to AK from Indiana

I'm going to get a jump on planning a trip to Alaska from IN. I have a couple years to figure things out and will have whatever time needed to get there and back. Were traveling in a newer Ram and will be pulling a 40+ft 5th wheel toy hauler. My question is, based on my transportation what would be the best way to get there pulling my larger 5th wheel so it will be a safe and fun trip?? This will be a spring/summer trip.

  • When I run Google maps I enter Canada at Portal then up 35 to 11 to Saskatoon then up 16 through Edmonton then up 43 to hwy 2 or Tupper Hwy to Dawson Creek, then up 97 to hwy 1 into Alaska which changes to hwy 2. Lots of driving through Canada but seems to be the straightest route. Anyone run this route lately??
  • I would cross south of Winapeg then west on 6 or 16,don't remember the number. Head to the beginning of the Alcan. Take your time and enjoy the trip.

Sounds like fun. Taking any hitch-hikers! I'm available! I can meet you in Lafayette! Anderson is not (THAT) far from you.

  • Montana north thru Edmonton, NW toward Grande Prairie cross the Rockies picking up 97? North to the AlCan. This would be the fastest. Option 1, west to US97 north crossing the border from WA state. There are more options and Im positive you will get more.
