I am a slow learner, so I did the same thing with my kids 30 years ago. Only once, though.
We then started taking shorter trips, with more time on the ground for the kids, for us, for relaxing. That's the way to go, in my opinion.
Especially in the summer, I would avoid Utah and the Grand Canyon. Spend your time in RMNP -- cooler, lots to do and see.
well I love RMNP so if we rethink it we will be spending more time there without a doubt.
