A "side trip" to Stewart BC & Hyder AK would take many days out of your three week adventure. It is about 1150 km (715 miles) from Cache Creek BC to Stewart BC. That would be two driving days from Cache Creek, or three days if you're leaving from the Lower Mainland (Vancouver).
With all the interesting sights & potential adventures in the lower half of B.C., I'm not sure a trip to Stewart/Hyder is worth the time investment knowing you have only three weeks. Unless you can combine it with a loop up to Watson Lake (Alaska Highway) and then the Alaska Highway between Watson Lake YT and Dawson Creek BC. Otherwise, you'd be backtracking out using the same highways you drove in on.
