If you're in BC, you should find the following, if you go with Telus:
1) 3G in all places you get cell service.
2) 4G in most places you get cell service.
3) LTE in most, if not all, major centers.
Not sure about Rogers, but as stated above, Telus has excellent coverage for a mountainous province. The best coverage will be around the major centers, of course, but even many smaller centers and rural areas with have coverage of some sort.
And, if you come out to Tofino/Ucluelet, I recommend you use Telus. Rogers is out here, but they only have a tower on Mt. Ozzard, so their real coverage is Ucluelet and immediate area only. Rogers in Tofino is spotty at best, and that's only if you stand on 1 foot on a rock holding the phone above your head and making a goofy face while reciting the Lord's Prayer.
