Hmmmm, I've never thought of the drive to Stewart or Hyder as one of the most magnificent drives in Canada. Not at all. See some images on my site here http://yukonsights.ca/Hwy37A.html
If one has a fascination with glaciers, then there are a few to be seen along Highway 37A. But this is only 30 minutes worth of driving. The drive up Highway 37 to the junction with Highway 37A is rather ordinary compared to driving through the Rockies around Banff and Jasper or the Rockies along the Alaska Highway.
The ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert is interesting but if you ride it on a cloudy rainy foggy day, not so much. Advance reservations usually required too. It takes a day to drive to the north end of Vancouver Island to Port Hardy, then a full day on the ferry to arrive in Prince Rupert just before midnight, then another day to drive to Stewart and Hyder, then a day there I assume to look around. Thus, the same amount of time needs to be allocated for the trip.
