The PRI got their way, and IVA the 16% National Sales Tax has been added to FOOD and MEDICINE. I have already noticed some price increases in other industries (mostly tourist oriented).

It is my understanding that this bill will not pass until November 15 if at all. It's not over yet. I guess if you live on beans ,rice and milk the bill will have no effect. G-d forbid you might want to eat meat! When Canada brought in a similar VAT tax all those with incomes below a certain level received continuing subsidy checks. That is fair!
