Hmmm... my wife is a native Spanish speaker (and has a masters degree in Spanish) and is a former missionary. She says that "cuarentena" is used in the context of the 40 days of staying in and abstinence from sex after a woman delivers a baby. Quaresma is a Portuguese word for Lent.
