Rapid city SD to Cody WY

What is the suggest route to Cody from rapid city. We have been told
I 90 to Buffalo than route 16 to Route 120 then up to Cody. We have a chevy 2500 pulling a 14' travel trailer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Really don't want to spend all the time going up to Montana and then back down.

    you have been told right :). the other one, highway 14 is harder your brakes going down and 14A is a definite NO NO!
    But if you want to take a scenic drive one day, drive up 14 to Burgess Junction and come back via 14A...in your truck. Along the way, west of Burgess Junction is an ancient Indian astronomy circle called the Medicine Wheel. Worth you time and you can drive all the way up to it these days.
