There is a local mechanic about 30 minutes south of Guadalajara, just outside Jocotepec, on hwy 15, known as Carr. Guadalajara/Morelia about 6 km NORTH of El Crucero on the EAST side of the road. (Do not confuse him with Salvadores who is across the road on the WEST side much closer to El Crucero). It will be at the intersection across from the PEMEX station. I got the following off Google maps (Jocotepec JALISCO GPS 20.319495, -103.492181) Google Map
He worked on my turbo on my 2004 Ford Superduty diesel and did a good job. He came highly recommended by some of the local businesses that use heavy duty diesel trucks for delivery. He also works on buses, and heavy equipment. Local mechanics bring their heavy duty work and diesel issues to him.
His place is nothing fancy, in fact, if you blink, you may miss it. Look for all the trucks and buses parked out front. There is no sign and it could pass for a junk yard. You would not know it was a mechanic if I had not mentioned it here. (WHAT do you expect, this is Mexico!!! They don't use fancy signage or extravagant entrances)
He lives upstairs from the garage and it is located on the dirt road that runs parallel to the highway. On the Southeast corner of the main road in to the small pueblo of Zapotitan de Hidalgo.
Gregorro Cueves, Cel phone 33-39-55-59-79 He does NOT speak English and this number is about a year old, so I am not sure if it is still active.
Best of luck. Feel free to contact me if you need any more info. We have been living in Joco for the last 3 years and have gotten to know our way around.
