Although we are in Mexico for a long term, we still depend on our U.S. health insurance. As someone else posted, most health care in Mexico is reasonably priced, as is medication. My United Health Care allows me to save up my receipts and submit for reimbursement, which I have been doing for about one year now, and they have pulled through.
AS for emergency situations, our Mexican auto insurance has a feature which allows us to be med-vac to the U.S. They will also pay for someone to bring our RV back and pay for a family or friend to fly to Mexico to do so.
There are also several companies that offer short term insurance or med-vac policies. Just have to do your homework and do some on-line research. Good luck. Happy travels.
