Thank you all for your suggestions, just the kind of input I was hoping for. I'm not sure if we'll go as far north as to visit the 3 state parks so if we don't, would leaving Redwood NP going south on 101 then hitting 299, 44, 395 be a viable option? It'll probably be around the 23rd when we begin the return trip. We are getting so excited to see the west coast. My husband has been dreaming of seeing the Redwoods and Sequoias since he was a child. The more I read the more I find that we'd like to see or do and 5 weeks is just not going to be enough time!
