We're leaving San Miguel de Allende today and are going to Atotonilco and then Guanajuato for several days.

Just a word of advice from past experience. I would head as far south as fast as you can along the coast and then work your way back up through the interior. The interior is much higher elevation and, come March and April when the coast will be hot the interior will be a comfortable temperature. I am sure that you are having some very cool nights (maybe frost)right now in SMA and Guanajuato. This will apply to Morelia, Puebla, Oaxaca and San Cristobal as well as Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica to Panama.

Desktoglory caught up with us in San Miguel. Songoftheroad is currently staying here with us at the trailer park in Teotihuacan! :)
We're meeting other 'overlanders' regularly as we move around the campgrounds. A dutch couple who stayed here in Teotihuacan with us, have been on the road since 2005! They just spent 5 years in South America.

So far, we've stayed several days to a week each in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato and now Teotihuacan.
We're planning on leaving here tomorrow and stay in Cholula / Puebla for a while. Then finally on to the Yucatan.

It's a great idea indeed to do the coast now. We're skipping places like Guadalajara / Lake Chapala / Oaxaca on the way south to do them on our way up north in a few months hopefully.

We have browsed some of your photos and are very impressed. We try to take good pictures but yours are superior. Easy to tell you have done this for awhile and hope you are making a living of it. Glad you were able to get to some of our favorite places. If you do get to Oaxaca there is an "overlander" RV park (see my notes) where may our like minded folks find their way.

We've been staying in Catemaco these past few days and are planning to head east to Villahermosa tomorrow (La Venta museum), and in a day or two onto Palenque (Mayabell possibly).

Update: we spent the past couple of weeks exploring the Yucatan and are now at Yax-Ha in Chetumal. Hopefully looking to cross the border into Belize in a few days; we're waiting on the import permit for our dog.

Good luck with the dog. Last time we tried it, we had all the paperwork done in advance from the states. At the border we were told the inspection station was a few miles inland, and if they didn't like the looks of dogs, they would just impound them. We skipped Belize and went all the way around. Keep us posted!

We're in Belize now. The dog was ok. The problem was a bribe attempt by the immigration officer!
